I had always wanted to travel to a place completely foreign, and I didn't want to take me "Western bubble" with me so I could eat the same food, stay in the same hotels, and have a Starbucks on every corner. China was a perfect destination for this. The culture, the food, the language, the history, and the people were all exactly what I was looking for. As a white male American, I stuck out in the crowd immediately. I felt like eyes were on me all the time, but definitely not in a threatening way... it was more curiosity. People wanted to take photos with me, sign my autograph, and parents encouraged thier kids to practice their English with me. I felt like a rock star! The images below are part journal, part photo essay, and part evidence of my first time in Asia.
